Progressive retirement: do you know? This device makes it possible to slow down gently, by offering those who wish to do so the possibility of ending their part-time career and starting to receive – in addition to their salary – part of their retirement pensions in order to compensate for the lack of to win. When they definitively stop working, the amount of their pension will be recalculated to take into account the additional rights — quarters and points — they acquired during their part-time career.
The conditions for access to progressive retirement are not very restrictive. It is enough to be at least 60 years old, to justify 150 quarters of insurance and to work between 40% and 80% of a full time. But it is not necessary to actually reduce his working time. Employees “already” part-time can benefit from it under the same conditions as the others, without being required to further reduce their work quota.
Very attractive, gradual retirement is struggling to take off. As of December 31, 2020, only 23,000 people insured under the general scheme benefited from this system. Several explanations have been put forward to justify this lack of enthusiasm, including a lack of information, the impossibility of having an assessment of the amount of one’s progressive retirement before committing to it, unless one has recourse to the services from an expert ” retirement “…
Gradual recovery
To take account of the increase in the legal retirement age to 64, the pension reform law plans to shift the age at which it will be possible to opt for phased retirement by two years. For generations close to retirement age, this increase should take place gradually, at the same pace as the increase in the retirement age at the rate of three months more per generation: i.e. 60 years and 3 months for insured persons born between September 1, 1961 and December 31, 1961; 60 years and 6 months for those born in 1962, 60 years and 9 months for those born in 1963 and so on to reach 62 years for insured persons born from 1968. The other conditions for access to progressive retirement are unchanged .
However, some minor improvements are planned, including “a special effort to inform”, the possibility of working less than twenty-four hours a week and the extension of the system to the civil service and liberal professions schemes, including the lawyers’ scheme.
